What is a gong bath?
In a gong bath you are immersed in the sounds of the instruments, which is why it is called a ‘bath’. There is no water involved and you are fully clothed. Most people choose to lie on a mat with their eyes closed but you can also sit while the instruments are played. It is important to be comfortable so I recommend the addition of pillows and blankets so you can make yourself a ‘nest’. You will hear gongs, singing bowls and grounding instruments and there is a period of silence or ‘shunyata’ at the end of the session, which allows the body to absorb the healing energy of the gongs.
During the session, it is likely that you will enter a deep meditative state, some people fall asleep and this is fine, you will still benefit from the gongs. Gongs are powerful instruments, capable of moving your mind, body and soul to a state of natural balance.
